According to the publication, in a conversation with Putin, Xi Jinping refused to condemn Russia’s actions in Ukraine or identify them as an aggression and “called for a solution to the problem through negotiations.”
Xi Jinping also told Putin that all parties should work to resolve the situation in Ukraine “responsibly” and also said that China was ready to help solve the problem.
“Each of the concerned parties must take a responsible position, which contributes to the proper resolution of the crisis in Ukraine. China is ready to continue its constructive role,” the Chinese leader was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said the Chinese leader had “noted the legitimacy of Russia’s actions to protect fundamental national interests in the face of security challenges created by external forces.”
Putin also noted that the parties spoke about “expanding cooperation in energy, finance, industry, transportation and other areas.” Issues of further development of military and military-technical relations were also touched upon.
Earlier, the United States called China the biggest threat to world order. The State Department noted the potential dangers for the United States and allies created by China’s cooperation with Russia.
