The US Congress went on Christmas break without resolving the issue of aid to Ukraine and strengthening security on the Mexican border.
The American Congress may pass a new aid package to Ukraine in early January 2024. Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said this on Sunday, December 24, in an interview with MSNBC.
At the same time, he called for “pray and hope.”
“I just really hope that this package, which includes not only us and Israel, but also internal issues, that there will be a solution that is acceptable to both sides, and that it will not hinder the support for Ukraine, and again, let’s all pray. and hopefully it will happen in early January,” said Markarova.
As the ambassador said, after talking to congressmen of both parties, he got the impression that aid to Ukraine has bipartisan support.
“Congress understands: this is important not only for Ukraine and Europe as a whole, but also for the national interest of the United States,” he added.
Let’s remember that at a press conference on Tuesday, President Vladimir Zelensky expressed confidence that Ukraine will receive the necessary support from America.
Earlier, the White House called on the US Congress not to delay making a decision on new aid to Ukraine. They emphasized that Putin’s victory would mean a threat to the entire world order.
