The US defense policy bill signed by Biden was passed by Congress last week.
United States of America (USA) President Joe Biden signed the annual defense spending bill that includes a record $886 billion for the Pentagon. It also refers to aid for Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, December 22, by the White House press service.
The bill provides a record $886.3 billion in annual military spending. It provides $800 million in aid to Ukraine.
“Today, I signed into law HR 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 (the Act). Energy, the Department of State, and the Intelligence Community.” – said Biden.
He said the law would create the army necessary “to contain future conflicts while simultaneously supporting military personnel and their families.”
The document was adopted by Congress on December 14 and consists of nearly 3,100 pages.
As CNN points out, the bill provides for the extension of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative until the end of 2026 and the allocation of $300 million for this program in the current and next fiscal years. The program provides federal government funding to pay industry to produce weapons and aid to be shipped to Ukraine, rather than taking funds directly from US military stockpiles.
Earlier, the United States took a decisive step towards the confiscation of frozen assets of Russia in favor of Ukraine.
In this regard, the leaders of the member states of the European Union supported the plan to use the fixed assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in favor of Ukraine.
