Taylor expressed the opinion that the process of Kyiv’s EU accession negotiations may take longer than the Alliance accession negotiations.
US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor believes that Kyiv’s negotiations on joining the EU may take longer than the negotiations on joining the Alliance. He said this on Friday, December 22, in a commentary on the FREEDOM TV channel.
According to him, it is possible to start negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance at the next NATO summit in Washington (USA).
At the same time, he noted that many decisions need to be made before Ukraine joins NATO. They relate to the mechanics, logistics, regulation and compatibility of Ukrainian weapons with NATO countries.
“All these negotiations are important, they should start in July 2024 at the summit, and then, as soon as the war ends, Ukraine will be able to join NATO. This process has to start here in Washington in July next year . But it can happen faster – the main thing is to end the war and win, and then the negotiations can end with the actual membership, “said the ambassador of the expo.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico opposed Ukraine’s entry into NATO. The head of the Slovak government fears that this is allegedly “leading to the Third World War.”
