We have no legal grounds to ask about the extradition of these citizens, just as we have no grounds to extradite them.

This is how the Estonian government responded to the intentions of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to facilitate the mobilization of Ukrainians from abroad.
The corresponding statement was made by the head of the Department of Border and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia, Janek Mägi, in response to a question about how the situation with the attitude towards potential reservists of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were accepted by Estonia, has changed.
On December 22, it became known that a bill on the mobilization of men abroad would be introduced in January 2024. Defense Committee member Vadim Ivchenko said that people abroad, like Ukrainians in Ukraine, will undergo the same procedures.
That is, identification will need to be completed. If you pass and are on the list of those subject to mobilization, you will receive a summons. And then it’s your choice – either you go back, or you stay there and this will be a violation of the law,” Ivchenko said.
Earlier, Advisor to the Office of the President Mykhailo Podolyak voiced the idea of depriving Ukrainian men abroad of assistance and residence permits so that they would return to Ukraine to fight.
We have the right to compare everyone. They must be equal. However, to achieve this goal, this must be discussed at the level of the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, other ministries, in particular, foreign affairs, etc. This should be consultations with the governments of other countries where our men are located, from the point of view of whether they can continue to receive temporary residence permits there, have certain preferences, and receive assistance. These are ideas,” Podolyak said.
He believes that the idea of conscripting men from abroad, voiced by Rustem Umerov (and then refuted by the Ministry of Defense), is “correct.”
Still, you need to be aware, because it looks strange. Someone here must bear some responsibility for what is happening in the country. And who will wait until these people complete everything? Then we will come and continue, as if nothing had happened, to build Ukraine. The minister is right here,” Podolyak said.
Previously, BILD quoted Umerov in which he spoke very specifically about plans to send subpoenas to men abroad.
