Hundreds of people came out to Congress Square in Argentina’s capital for a second day on Thursday night to protest against the Decree of Emergency (DNU) announced on Wednesday by the country’s new President Javier Miley. This is what La Nacion reported.
The decree reportedly provides for deep deregulation of the economy, repeals many laws and regulations, and aims to promote the privatization of state-owned companies.
“Marches and demonstrations with pots and pans took place in various places in Buenos Aires and within the country to protest the President’s recent announcement,” the statement said.
In Buenos Aires, protests took place in the districts of Belgrano and Almagro, as well as in the area of the presidential mansion in Olivos.

Near the Congress in Buenos Aires, police are trying to move the demonstration to the sidewalk to comply with the new protocol on the rules of mass gatherings proposed by Security Minister Patricia Bullrich.
A significant part of the protesters were representatives of unions and organizations.

Let’s remember that last November Javier Miley was elected president of Argentina. He has been compared to former US leader Donald Trump and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. But at the same time he hates Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On December 10, the inauguration of the newly elected President of Argentina took place. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky attended the inauguration.
