The Ministry of Defense has stated that the information disseminated in the media that members of the family of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov are allegedly US citizens is false.
“The children of the minister (son – 10 years old, daughters – 8 and 2 years old) – are exclusively citizens of Ukraine. Umerov’s family members do not have citizenship of other countries. Received them Ukrainian passports, which were issued to them after the expiration of the previous ones, at the Ukrainian Embassy in the USA, therefore, in the declaration referred to by the media, the place of issue of the documents is indicated – the USA, ” said the message.
As mentioned, in 2016, “the family of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine was forced to go abroad due to assassination attempts and threats as a result of the systematic activities of Rustem Umerov to remove the temporarily occupied Crimea.”
“Since 2014, Rustem Umerov, as a delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, together with the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and representatives of the Mejlis, spoke at all international platforms on violations on the rights of people in occupied Crimea, and involved in the process of releasing political prisoners in Crimea,” he said.
Let us remind you that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov published declarations of income and property status in 2021 and 2022, according to which his income last year amounted to 4 million 560 thousand 529 UAH, and a year earlier – almost 3.5 million UAH.
