The Council of the European Union on its page on the social network X today, December 20, published photos showing how the New Year tree is decorated with a toy in the form of a ceramic cockerel, which at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion became a kind of symbol of indestructibility in Ukraine.

We just received a really special gift – a rooster, a rooster straight from Ukraine! This is not just a decoration, it symbolizes hope, the sunrise and the invincibility of Ukraine. By decorating our Christmas tree, this ornament serves as an expression of our unwavering support for Ukraine,” the message says.
The main route of the Russian offensive against Kyiv passed through the village of Borodyanka in the Kyiv region in 2022; it came under occupation. On April 1, 2022, the village was dismissed. According to local authorities, the invaders, in particular, completely destroyed eight and partially damaged 32 multi-storey buildings.
In the photo of one of the destroyed high-rise buildings, a surviving kitchen cabinet was seen on the wall, in which everything was preserved, even a ceramic decorative vessel for drinks in the shape of a cockerel installed on it.

These are the cockerels that were presented to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during their meeting in Kyiv on April 9, 2022.
