Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó assured that his country “will not allow anyone against its will.”
Budapest opposes the agreement on the reform of the migration system and the granting of asylum in the European Union. This is what Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said on Wednesday, December 20, AFP news agency reports.
“We reject this transfer agreement in the strongest possible terms. We will not let anyone go against our will. No one from Brussels or anywhere else can tell us who we can let in,” said Hungarian official.
Italy and Spain have accepted the agreements between the EU Council and the European Parliament (EP) on the reform of the migration system. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called the agreement key to resolving the migrant situation and controlling the situation at Spain’s borders, while Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi called the agreement a “great victory. “
It is noted that Italy has long been the first point on the route of European migrants, who arrived here via the Mediterranean Sea. Spain is also one of the main entry points for migrants in Europe.
The Council of the EU and the EP reached a political agreement on the reform of the migration and asylum system in the European Union; a complete revision of the legal framework in this area is expected.
The five EU laws agreed by the Spanish Presidency and the European Parliament “affect all stages of asylum management.” All five regulations are part of the new Pact on Migration and Asylum, proposed by the European Commission on September 23, 2020.
In the coming weeks, work will continue at a technical level to develop the details of the new regulations. They then go to the EU Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) for approval before final official approval.
Brussels hopes the new rules, once adopted, will make the European asylum system more efficient and ease the burden on EU countries where most migrants arrive.
Let’s recall that the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that he had a very long conversation with Szijjarto.
