The lack of restrictions, according to farmers, will have a negative impact on them and the export of their products to Romania.
The Moldovan farmers’ association Forța Fermierilor is asking the government to limit imports of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine, as is done in Romania and Bulgaria. The association’s statement was released on Tuesday, November 19.
In it, farmers note that since the authorities have promised to lift the state of emergency in the country from January 1, 2024, this will lead to the abolition of the licensing decision on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products . According to representatives of the association, this will have a negative impact on Moldovan farmers and export products to Romania. Therefore, in the new year, the government is required to introduce import restriction mechanisms similar to those implemented in Romania and Bulgaria.
“The absence of import restrictions will unbalance the domestic market and endanger the export of grains, corn and sunflowers in Romania, which has repeatedly warned our country about the risk of re- -export of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine,” the association said.
They also emphasize that blocking exports to Romania would be a real disaster for Moldovan farmers.
We remind you that on Tuesday, queues of trucks were recorded at the border of Ukraine with four neighboring countries – more than 5,000 trucks.
