Neutrality will not protect Moldova if the Russian Federation decides to attack it, the Prime Minister of Moldova emphasized.
Moldova needs a modernized air defense system to counter threats from the Russian Federation. This is what Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said, Reuters reports.
According to him, the Parliament of Moldova approved a new security strategy that recognizes the Russian Federation as the biggest threat to the country’s security and its pro-European government.
He added that Moldova aims, with the help of its EU and NATO allies, to acquire a modern air defense system to protect airports and key infrastructure.
“If the Kremlin decides to attack us, what will we do?” Recan asked.
The Moldovan Prime Minister stressed that neutrality will not protect Moldova.
He added that developed countries are investing in their security so that their citizens and businesses feel protected. Rechan added, if they don’t have it, people leave and take their capital with them. And this, according to him, is happening now in Moldova.
As we wrote, the Parliament of Moldova on Friday, December 15, voted for a draft resolution approving the National Security Strategy of Moldova, presented by the country’s President Maia Sandu.
