The Swedish and Danish Ministries of Defense signed a joint letter of intent to further support Ukraine.
Denmark and Sweden have agreed to buy additional CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine. This was reported by the Swedish government’s press service on Monday, December 18.
“The defense ministers of Sweden and Denmark signed a joint letter of intent to further support Ukraine in the field of combat vehicles,” the statement said.
Denmark will initially make a financial contribution of DKK 1.8 billion, while Sweden will support the procurement under an agreement signed between the Swedish Defense Materiel Management Agency (FMV) and Ukraine in July of this year.
Copenhagen and Stockholm will use their industrial potential to ensure the supply of new CV90s to Ukraine, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson said.
Sweden has announced a winter humanitarian aid package for Ukraine worth 1.4 billion kroner (more than 124 million euros).
In addition, the commander of the Swedish army, General Mikael Büden, said that he was waiting for political decisions on the Gripen fighters. Ukraine can receive these fighters, but the main aircraft will be the F-16.
