The situation on the Russian border remains difficult. In addition to daily shelling, attempts by enemy saboteurs to penetrate Ukrainian territory were recorded.
The enemy activated sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the Sumy and Kharkov regions. This was announced on December 17 by the representative of the State Border Service Andrey Demchenko.
According to him, one of the last groups was exposed in the Sumy region.
“Thanks to the coordinated actions of border guards and territorial defense forces, including artillery, the saboteurs were driven across the state border,” said a representative of the State Border Guard Service.
Demchenko added that in order to effectively counter hostile DRGs, the units defending the border section with the Russian Federation train together with other parts of the Defense Forces.
He also emphasized that the saboteurs, with appropriate weapons and equipment, try to act covertly and often leave explosive traps. Thus, they threaten not only Ukrainian soldiers, but also ordinary citizens.
It was previously reported that in the past two weeks, Russian DRGs tried seven times to enter Ukrainian territory.
