The Ukrainian Defense Forces received a batch of long-range kamikaze drones AQ 400 Scythe.
Ukrainian manufacturing company Terminal Autonomy has delivered the first batch of new AQ 400 Scythe attack drones to the military. The completion of the purchase of weapons was discussed in the official statement of the company, writes the Defense Blog.
The initial production quantity of this type of drone is 100 units. The company aims to increase the speed to 500 UAVs per month.
The AQ 400 Scythe is capable of flying a distance of 750 km and carries a payload of up to 32 kilograms. It is also possible to increase the load to 70 kg, which reduces the flight range.
Drones can be launched using short runways or catapults. The features of these UAVs are also said to be rapid manufacturing, mass production capability and cost-effectiveness.
Terminal Autonomy established the production of kamikaze drones through a network of small businesses and engineering firms specializing in the production of similar platforms. Although the company buys some parts outside Ukraine, mainly in Germany and the UK, the priority of the project is the maximum localization of production within Ukraine.
We remind you that on the night of December 16, air defense units destroyed 30 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones launched by the Russians.
According to the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuri Ignat, the Russians do not need sites with special equipment to launch the Shahed. Attack drones can be launched almost from a truck, from a car.
