TsAGAL immediately began investigating the incident, assured Daniel Hagari, Israeli army spokesman.
The Israel Defense Forces has admitted it wrongfully killed three Hamas hostages during the fighting in Shejaiya in northern Gaza. The Israeli military opened fire on them. This was said by the TsAGAL press secretary, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, reports The Times of Israel.
He noted that the Israeli army was responsible for the “tragic incident.”
Hagari also responded to the question of how the hostages escaped from Hamas captivity. According to him, these three “escaped or were abandoned by terrorist hostages.”
The officer added that after the shootout, during the scanning and examination, suspicion immediately arose as to the identity of the deceased. Their bodies were quickly given to experts in Israel for analysis, where the identity of the hostages was established.
Khagari added that TsAGAL immediately started investigating the incident.
“This is a tragic event that happened in a war zone where in the past days and now the troops have encountered many terrorists and fought heavy battles,” he said.
Earlier, Daniel Hagari commented on photos circulating on social networks where dozens of Palestinian men were stripped to their underwear after being detained in Gaza.
