The helicopters were purchased by Argentina from the Russian Federation for transport missions and search and rescue operations in Antarctica.
Argentina is considering the possibility of transferring to Ukraine two Mi-171E multi-purpose helicopters, purchased from Russia. Pucara Defensa wrote this on Thursday, December 14.
According to the publication, the relevant agreements were reached during the visit of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to Buenos Aires.
“Negotiations are currently underway on the terms of compensation on the Argentine side for the transfer of helicopters to Ukraine,” the publication stated.
It was noted that Argentina decided to abandon the operation of Mi-171E helicopters due to the fact that they could not pass the next regulatory check – first due to problems from Russia, and later due to sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation.
“The United States offered Argentina to transfer these helicopters to Ukraine, but the previous government opposed such a move. Negotiations are ongoing to deduct the cost of the helicopters as a discount from the initial payments for the purchase by Argentina of F-16 aircraft from the United States,” the journalists wrote.
It is noted that the helicopters are equipped with additional fuel tanks, a cargo crane and can cover long distances. The vehicles are also equipped with weather radar and emergency floats.
An Mi-2 helicopter patrolling an oil pipeline in Stavropol Territory crashed in Georgievsky District.
Iran will receive the Russian Su-35 fighter, Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft.
