About 80% of Ukrainians ruled out the possibility of territorial concessions to Russia and the majority were ready to endure several years of war for the sake of victory.
The opinion that it is possible to agree to peace with Russia is wrong. Moreover, the majority of Ukrainians do not want to make concessions to the aggressor. This was said on Thursday, December 14, in an opinion piece by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba for the American publication Foreign Affairs.
“No country in the world strives more for peace than Ukraine. We do not want a protracted war – Putin wants it. We have a clear vision of the path to peace, set out in the Ten-Point Peace Formula suggested President Vladimir Zelensky. And Ukraine is paying the highest price for this war,” the minister said.
Kuleba points out that, according to the results of sociological surveys, 80% of Ukrainians do not include the possibility of territorial concessions with Russia and that the majority is ready to endure several years of war for the sake of victory.
“Western analysts calling on Ukraine to agree to an immediate ceasefire or unfavorable terms are simply ignoring the views of Ukrainians. For years, European politicians and experts and the United States did not listen to the warnings of the Ukrainians that neither diplomacy nor “business as usual” with Russia was possible anymore. Only a full-scale invasion, massive destruction and suffering forced them to admit that the Ukraine is right. There is no need to fall into this trap again,” urged Kuleba.
Ukraine’s head of diplomacy warned that accepting Putin’s territorial incursions would be his reward for aggression and, in the end, would come at great cost not only to Ukraine, but also to the United States, its allies and across the global security architecture as a whole.
The White House called on the US Congress not to delay the decision on new aid to Ukraine. They emphasized that Putin’s victory would mean a threat to the entire world order.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky returned to Ukraine after working visits to America and Europe. According to him, there will be more support packages from partner states.
