The bill allows the PSA to approve Uniform Indicators for Assessing the Integrity and Professional Ethics of a Judge.
On December 9, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill to improve judicial career procedures, which is one of the requirements of the European Commission. This was announced by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
“The unstoppable reforms continue on Saturday. The Rada adopted in general #10140d to improve the procedures for the judicial career… Also a recommendation from the European Commission and macrofin,” he said.
The bill was supported by 244 representatives of the Verkhovna Rada.
As MP Alexey Goncharenko said, the bill provides for:

changing the deadline by which a judge must annually file a declaration of kinship and a declaration of goodwill from February 1 to May 1;

regulates the rule that a person holding the position of a member of the High Council of Justice (HCJ), a member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCSU) cannot apply for the position of judge;

granting authority to the Supreme Court to approve Common Indicators for assessing the virtue and professional ethics of a judge (candidate for the position of a judge) after agreement with the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine, the Council of Judges of Ukraine and the Public Council of Good.
We remind you that the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine continues to assess the qualification of judges for suitability to the position held.
