A citizen of Belarus, “acting in favor of the Ukrainian special services,” was allegedly involved in the explosion in the Northern Tunnel of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.
Russian security officers added that the man was detained and, according to their version, the detainee “received instructions from another Belarusian citizen who lives in Lithuania and operates under the control of Ukrainian special services.”
The Russians claim that the man took the explosive device from the cache, brought it to Buryatia, and planted it on the tanks of freight trains.
The explosion occurred in the tunnel on the night of November 30. Three tank cars were damaged, one of them burned out completely. Ukrainian media called the incident an SBU operation.
The Severnomoisky tunnel is the longest on the BAM, its length is about 15 km. BAM is a backup of the Trans-Siberian Railway and is used, among other things, for transporting goods from China.
