Turkey has begun construction of a gas pipeline under the Black Sea

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday, June 13, the start of laying a gas pipeline under the Black Sea. This was reported by his press service.

It was noted that the head of state gave his speech at the ceremony of lowering the first underwater pipe.

“We are extremely pleased that we have reached a critical stage of gas production in the Black Sea. In the first quarter of 2023, 10 million cubic meters of gas will enter our national gas delivery system,” Erdogan said.

He informed that, according to the plan, gas production from the new field should reach its maximum by 2026.

It will be recalled that in August 2020, Turkey opened the Sakarya gas field, the largest in the country’s history, in the Black Sea with a volume of 320 billion cubic meters. In November 2021, engineering work here was completed.
