Washington and its NATO partners are determined to build Ukraine’s defense capabilities over the next 5, 10 and 20 years, if necessary.
Ukraine as a sovereign state will remain, and it will have its own army, which must be armed. The US is addressing this issue. This statement was made by First Deputy Pentagon Chief Kathleen Hicks at the Defense One Tech summit on Monday, June 13th.
“Looking at the longer term, I think we can assure ourselves now that the country called Ukraine will continue, that it will be a sovereign country, and that this country will have the armed forces that need to protect it. “Therefore, hopefully, we decide what kind of means Ukrainians will need for self -defense in the long run,” he said.
According to Hicks, the United States, together with NATO partners, intends to develop Ukraine’s defense capabilities over the next 5, 10 and 20 years, if necessary. At the same time, Washington decided two questions: what weapons would be transferred to Kyiv and what training the Ukrainian military would need.
“The good news is that the United States has been actively cooperating with the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a long time,” the deputy minister said.
Recall, the other day, adviser to the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak published a list of weapons that Ukraine needs to defeat Russia.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin responded by saying the United States and partners intended to give Kyiv everything it needed to win the war.
