The first board meeting of the International Register of Damage Caused by Russia in Ukraine will be held in The Hague before the end of this year. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced this on Wednesday, December 6, on Telegram following a meeting on the confiscation of Russian assets abroad.
“Just this month, the European Commission plans to present a plan for using Russia’s frozen sovereign assets to support Ukraine. The United States presented a bipartisan bill to confiscate the assets of sanctioned oligarchs of Russia is in favor of restoring Ukraine. We are active. working with the G7 countries,” Shmygal wrote.
He also said that the first board meeting of the International Register of Damage will be held in December in The Hague.
“We also continue to actively work on the compensation fund, which is part of the International Compensation Mechanism,” he added.
According to Shmygal, the properties of Russian oligarchs and the sovereign properties of the Russian Federation should be confiscated.
Let’s recall that on May 17, within the framework of the summit of the Council of Europe in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, a political declaration was signed on the creation of a Register of damage caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Currently, 43 countries and the European Union participate in the Damage Register.
And in November the Register of Losses Council was created. It will be one of the main bodies of the Registry and will be critical to its functioning.
