The authorities of Nepal appealed to Russia with a request not to recruit citizens of this country into the Russian army and to immediately send home already recruited Nepalese military personnel.

This comes after it became known that at least six Nepalese citizens who served in the Russian army were killed.
Nepalese soldiers – Gurkhas – are famous for their bravery and ability to fight. They serve in the British and Indian armies in accordance with an agreement between the three countries, Reuters notes.
Nepal has no such agreements with Russia.
Nepalese authorities reported that six citizens who served in the Russian army have already been killed. It did not provide any other details.
The Nepalese government has contacted the Russian embassy demanding the immediate return of their bodies and payment of compensation to their families, Reuters quoted a Nepalese Foreign Ministry statement published on Monday evening.
The press release also stated that work is now underway to free a Nepalese citizen who fought and was captured by the Ukrainians.
Authorities also urged citizens not to join the army of any warring country.
The English-language daily Kathmandu Post, citing the Nepalese ambassador in Moscow, reported that approximately 150-200 Nepalese are mercenaries in the Russian army.
