The Harry Potter books are among the best-selling books, with more than 600 million copies sold worldwide.

The first edition of the Harry Potter book, found in a bookshop in Scotland, is planned to be sold at the Hansons auction for at least 60 thousand pounds. The BBC wrote this on Saturday, December 2.

A hardcover copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – the first book in JK Rowling’s boy wizard stories – is said to have been published in 1997.

After expert appraisal, auctioneers Hansons said it was one of 200 copies sent to shops from the book’s first printing. The recommended retail price of the book was then £10.

“Now its value could be from 40 thousand to 60 thousand pounds sterling,” Hansons calculated.

“These first issues are becoming increasingly difficult to find. This is probably one of the few surviving copies that has been in private hands since the 1997 purchase,” said Harry Potter expert Jim Spencer.

The auction will take place on December 11.

The Harry Potter books are among the best-selling titles of all time, with more than 600 million copies sold worldwide. Movies have been made based on these works by JK Rowling, and there are also plans to create a television series.

It was previously reported that a Rembrandt painting valued at $18 million sold for next to nothing.
