At the end of October, a state of emergency was declared at the regional level in the Vinnytsia region due to an incident of hepatitis A.
In the Vinnytsia region, on December 1, 323 cases of hepatitis A were confirmed in the laboratory. In total, 385 cases of the disease were recorded in the region, 54 of which were in children. This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on Saturday, December 2.
It is known that 31 patients are being treated at the hospital. Others are at home.
In addition, vaccination against the disease is carried out.
“In the region, 788 people were vaccinated against hepatitis A, including 669 doctors and 119 contact persons, 60 of them were children,” the doctors said.
It is indicated that the Center continues to investigate to determine the foci of infection and the spread of infection. In particular, water samples are taken for laboratory testing, and medical monitoring of contact persons in the cells at home is carried out.
Also, the Center’s specialists organized and conducted laboratory testing using the ELISA method for workers in the food industry and city trade enterprises.
“A total of 3,784 people were tested, nine of whom were found to have antibodies to the hepatitis A virus, and another had questionable results,” the Center said.
Preventive disinfection also continues in public areas.
Previously, 320 laboratory-confirmed cases and 382 total cases of the disease were reported.
In addition, hepatitis A cases were found in Transcarpathia and the Dnepropetrovsk region, as well as in the Lutsk community of the Volyn region.
