On Friday, December 1, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Yuri Mironenko, commander of the UAV strike company, to this position. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the State Special Communications Agency.
In 2019, Mironenko signed a contract and entered into territorial defense. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he fought as part of the 112th Terror Defense Brigade in Kyiv. He was deputy chief of staff of the 129th battalion of the 112th brigade and headed the department for working with volunteer formations of territorial communities of the 112th brigade. Before his appointment as head of the State Service for Special Communications, he was the commander of a UAV strike company operating in the Zaporozhye direction.
Mironenko was awarded the Silver Cross badge.
At one time he worked in the banking sector, and was also the financial director of the Stirol concern, the general director of Diamond Sfir Group LLC and the chairman of the board of the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISED).
Let us recall that in November, law enforcement officers exposed a scheme for theft of public funds, in which the head of the State Special Communications Service, Yuri Shchigol, and his deputy, Viktor Zhora, were involved. Both are suspected of illegal misappropriation of budget funds in the amount of more than 62 million UAH. The top official was subsequently fired from his position.
The High Anti-Corruption Court placed Shchigol in custody on November 22, but gave him the opportunity to post bail in the amount of UAH 50 million.
