With the onset of cold weather in Ukraine, the incidence of the coronavirus is increasing. In some regions, the option of introducing quarantine is being considered.
COVID-19 is spreading throughout Ukraine. Virologists recorded the circulation of 14 strains. All detected mutations are a deviation from the Omicron strain that dominates the country.
On average, 4200-4300 patients with ARVI symptoms are hospitalized every week in Ukraine. In all these cases, the coronavirus has now reached up to 35%, but the statistics are growing every day. The Ministry of Health has already registered an excess of the epidemic limit for the incidence of COVID in three regions. Read the story for what is known about the situation.
Spread of COVID
During the past week (from November 20 to 26) in the country, almost 160 thousand Ukrainians fell ill with ARVI, influenza and COVID-19, more than half of them are children under the age of 17. Also, doctors hospitalize an average of 4,200 patients per week, half of whom are children. Of all morbidity cases, COVID-19 now accounts for up to 35%, but the statistics are growing weekly, including minors.
“More than 13 strains of COVID are currently spreading throughout Ukraine. In fact, it is necessary to be vaccinated, because now there is a significant deterioration in the morbidity situation, due to the winter season,” said the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Igor Kuzin. .
In addition, doctors record both resuscitation and death cases. In particular, in the past week, 56 people died from the coronavirus in Ukraine, including a child.
Introduction of quarantine
In the west and north of the country, the epidemic has crossed the border high level, the press service of the Ministry of Health reports.
“In three regions of Ukraine the limit of the epidemic has been exceeded – it is Ternopil, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi regions. The indicators there are already higher than the norm for this period. That means, these regions can already introduce some restrictive measures against the epidemic,” added Kuzin.
In these areas, after studying the epidemiological situation and by decision of local authorities, anti-epidemic measures can be strengthened, for example, declaring local quarantine in individual classes or schools, strengthening anti-epidemic measures in crowded places, such as masks, limiting the number of visitors to institutions and organizations.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health appeals to Ukrainians and asks them to adhere to the following recommendations:
-
At the first sign of a cold, contact your family doctor
-
do not start self-medication, follow the recommendations of doctors
-
When you are sick, take care of the safety of your family and colleagues: stay at home, use personal equipment
-
get vaccinated!
-
keep calm and watch the explanations of the chief state sanitary doctor regarding the morbidity situation in the country.
“Walking Pneumonia”
Meanwhile, in China, where COVID-19 has spread, a new mysterious virus is being identified. Local media reported that hospitals in the north of the country were already full of hospitalized people. Usually, patients do not have any significant symptoms: people do not cough, but have a high temperature. Most children get sick, but adults are also infected.

By mechanism International Health Regulations WHO requested additional epidemiological and clinical information and laboratory results from the Chinese government on these reported clusters in children.
The day before, the acting director of the Department WHO on epidemic and pandemic preparedness and prevention Maria Van Kerkhove said an increase in patients in China is likely caused by the increase in the number of children infected with pathogenic microorganisms that they avoided during the two years of quarantine through COVID-19.
Among these microorganisms variant of Mycoplasma pneumonia bacteria is considered. This usually leads to mild respiratory infections. Sometimes these bacteria can cause more serious lung infections that require hospitalization.
Unlike severe pneumonia, “Walking pneumonia” is mild. In pneumonia, the air sacs in the lungs fill with mucus and other fluids, the airways become inflamed, and the patient coughs up mucus.
“Walking pneumonia” is a non-medical term for a mild case of pneumonia. A more correct medical term is atypical pneumonia, which can be caused by certain molds, viruses or bacteria, usually a common bacterium called Mycoplasma pneumonia,” reports. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
