In each region, the majority support joining both unions, but most of those who want to see Ukraine as part of the EU and NATO are among the residents of the capital and the west of the country.
Ukraine’s entry into the European Union in the event of such a referendum is supported by 78% of Ukrainians surveyed. 5% of respondents are against joining the EU. This was confirmed by the results of a national survey conducted by the Sociological Group Rating on November 22-23.
According to the survey, support for joining the EU is slightly lower than in July of this year (85%). At the same time, the share of those who are undecided or unwilling to vote is increasing – 3% and 14%, respectively.
Support for the state’s entry into NATO tends to decrease and reaches 77% (in July it was 83%). Support for joining NATO is now at the same level as at the beginning of the invasion in March 2022. At the same time, 5% of respondents do not want to see Ukraine in the North Atlantic Alliance, 15% did not vote, and 3% undecided.
Low-income respondents show the least support for unions. In general, in each region the majority supports joining both unions, but most of all those who want to see Ukraine as part of the EU and NATO are among the residents of the capital and the west of the country.
The possibility of Ukraine joining NATO only within the territories controlled by the state is unacceptable for more than half of those surveyed (53%). 40% of respondents fully or rather support this idea: somewhat more often residents of the western region and the capital are ready to take such a step; middle-aged people. Residents of the east, center and south, as well as the oldest respondents, are less supportive of this idea. Even among supporters of Ukraine joining NATO, only 44% support this idea, while 51% are against it.
Let us remind you that the majority of Ukrainians (60%) are ready to delay the acquisition of membership in the European Union so that Ukraine can defend its interests during the negotiations. This is confirmed by the results of a survey conducted on September 4-20 by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) commissioned by the European Union Advisory Mission.
Another KIIS poll showed that the majority of Ukrainians support joining both the EU and NATO, but membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is more important, in their opinion.
