Poland’s likely new Prime Minister accused the current government of inaction and “cynically playing the Ukrainian card.”
Poland’s soon-to-be Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on the Ukrainian border blockade situation. He accused the government of current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of “inexcusable inaction,” Ukrinform reported.
“This is an unforgivable inaction. Thus, we are endangering Polish-Ukrainian relations and not protecting Polish interests,” the politician said.
According to him, the current Polish government puts everyone in a very difficult situation: “Law and Justice”, Morawiecki and Kaczynski play the Ukrainian card too much, very amateurish, unprofessional and very cynical.
Tusk emphasized that at first, when it was appropriate, Warsaw presented a radical pro-Ukrainian position, “completely forgetting about Polish interests.” According to him, “Poland should live in friendship and support Ukraine, while at the same time not neglecting its own interests.”
“They completely neglected it, and when they realized that it was annoying people, they started playing the anti-Ukrainian card, and then turned away from the border problem,” Tusk said.
He said that he is now studying this problem and holding meetings with politicians and experts dealing with the border issue.
We remind you that on November 6, a strike by Polish carriers began on the Ukrainian-Polish border. Among the main demands of the Ukrainian government is the return of operating permits for Ukrainian carriers, which were removed by the agreement with the European Union until June 30, 2024. The protesters want to tear up the agreement and continue the permit regime crossing the border on January 1. And on November 28, Ukrainian carriers responded by blocking the road in Poland.
