Russia boasts that it has developed some unique drones. Some copies are apparently expected to enter service with the Russian Army by the end of the year.
Today, the Russian media is full of news about new developments for the Russian army. In particular, they discussed maritime kamikaze drones and mini-drones for Su-57 fighters. Propagandists traditionally declare that “there are no analogues”, this is indeed the case – read the story Correspondent.net.
The first maritime drone in the Russian Federation
Director of the military-industrial holding KMZ (Kingisep Machine Plant), Mikhail Danilenko, at a meeting with Russian journalists, said that the Russian Federation had developed the first naval drones and promised to deliver them to the Russian Army in end of the year. But there is one thing – no more than 10 of them.
According to Danilenko, Russia’s maritime drones are flat, unmanned boats with low landings for “stealth” in the water. He also claims that the development can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h and cover a distance of up to 200 km.
“The drones are designed for a payload of about 600 kg, they can accommodate reconnaissance equipment, special cargo and explosives (TNT) – thanks to this, the drones will be able to attack targets in kamikaze mode, exploding during the collision,” Danilenko said.
Danilenko also assured that his holding has already started the creation of maritime drones and even developed the first “water-jet propulsion system.” The tests, according to him, will take place in a combat zone on the territory of Ukraine, and if the tests are successful, the devices will go into mass production.
In general, KMZ specializes in the production of boats for law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.
“Now we have three times the orders, this time. And the processing time has decreased significantly: if earlier it was 90 days, now it is 30 days. Now there are many of them, next year there will be more more than them,” Danilenko said.
New weapons for the Su-57
A number of propaganda publications, citing sources, reported that their engineers have created mini-drones for Su-57 fighters. The Russians continue to call these aircraft fifth generation and a competitor to the F-16, but in fact they belong to the 4++ generation aircraft.
According to RosSMI, the small drones will be placed in the external sling and in the intra-fuselage compartment of the fighter. That is, the Russians seem to have been able to implement the “choice” when an aircraft launched several UAVs at the same time and controlled this group.

Su-57
It is reported that the drones will have different purposes. They seem to be made in several versions: strike, reconnaissance or for electronic warfare (EW). But, as the occupiers note, the main role of drones is to “destroy the enemy’s air defenses” by overloading information channels and by attacking defense systems in wind
The military portal Defense Express noted that the Russians have announced plans to modify their Su-57 for use by groups of UAVs in 2021. This is about starting on-board development equipment and software and noted that one Su-57 in the internal compartment can carry more than 10 drones, which during the flight will be able to communicate through secure channels. both to each other and directly to the aircraft.
The developers also did not reveal what drones the Su-57 will launch, but in February of the same 2021, the Russian company Kronstadt for the first time presented a prototype of a drone as part of the wider Molniya program , which provides for ” the creation of a complex for the use of a group of UAVs,” that is, in fact, the flight of drones in a swarm .

The presented specimen has a length of 1.5 m, a wingspan of 1.2 m, a payload of 5-7 kg and a speed of up to 800 km / h. In addition, it is said that the drone can be located in the internal compartment of the Su-57 and is designed to perform various tasks, from reconnaissance to electronic warfare, etc.
