David Cameron and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will attend the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting on Wednesday.
Both plan to reaffirm their strong support for Ukraine.
The situation in Ukraine against the backdrop of new Russian attacks on Kyiv and other cities and heavy fighting at the front is among the main topics of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted this in their opening statements at the opening of the summit.
Stoltenberg thanked the United States for its leadership in helping Kyiv with arms supplies and other assistance.
But let me emphasize that this is a joint effort between the United States, Canada and European allies. And European allies provide almost 50% of all military assistance. We are truly in this together as allies on both sides of the Atlantic,” he added.
The American chief diplomat, in turn, noted:
We clearly reaffirm our support for Ukraine as it continues to face Russia’s war of aggression. What we do as a NATO alliance is more important than ever. As we have seen over the past three years, NATO is acting in response to the very important challenges facing us, and we are doing it together.
Blinken spoke about the importance of strengthening the military bloc against the backdrop of Russian aggression against Ukraine and other challenges and thanked the NATO Secretary General for his leadership.
Putin initially believed that NATO would be divided and Ukraine would crumble. Now he believes that he can wait out this war in Ukraine. He was wrong then and he is wrong now,” British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said today.
