Migration processes in Russia are “a serious external challenge to the country’s cultural tradition,” Gundyaev said.
If Russia’s migration policy does not change, there will be threats for the entire “Russian world.” The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) of Moscow, said this at the so-called World Russian People’s Council on Tuesday, November 28.
“The massive influx of immigrants who do not speak Russian, do not have a proper understanding of Russian history and culture, our traditions and customs, and therefore are unable and often unwilling to integrate into Russian society, is changing the appearance of Russian cities, leading to the distortion of a single legal, cultural and linguistic space of the country,” complained the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
He noted that “closed ethnic enclaves are emerging and actively developing in the largest cities, which are nurseries of corruption, organized ethnic crime and illegal immigration.”
The Patriarch suggested that it would be difficult for the Russian economy to cope without migration flows, but this does not mean that these flows should not be controlled and limited.
According to Kirill, migration processes in Russia are “a serious external challenge to the country’s cultural traditions.”
It was previously reported that Russia is screening migrants who are not registered in the military. And if a newly made citizen of the Russian Federation is 30 years old, then he “has the opportunity to serve his new homeland.”
