Since the launch of the EUMAM Ukraine mission, more than 34 thousand Ukrainian soldiers have been trained.
The EU Council decided to provide additional funding for the training of soldiers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the European Union Military Assistance Mission to support Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). This was announced by EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell in a briefing on Tuesday, November 28.
“Members agreed to increase additional funding for the training mission for Ukraine, which is one of our most successful missions. This is about 200 million more, which corresponds to the growing size and complexity of training for the mission this, which trained 34 thousand soldiers,” said Borrell.
The Council of the EU clarified that the funding will be provided through the European Peace Fund (EPF). In particular, the amount increased by 194 million euros – up to 255 million euros.
“The purpose of today’s decision is to continue support to the capacity building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on the needs of Ukraine and taking into account the growing volume and complexity of the training program,” the statement said.
We remind you that Western countries have trained 100 thousand fighters for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A coalition of 32 partner states is involved in training personnel.
