The purpose of today’s decision is to continue to support the development of the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the EUMAM mission, based on the needs of Ukraine and taking into account the growing scale and complexity of the training program, the EU Council said in a communiqué.
During the work of the EU training mission (since October 2022), more than 34 thousand Ukrainian military personnel were trained.
From August 2023, the Ukrainian side asked to expand the mission not only to military personnel, but also to individual units of the National Guard, National Police, State National Security Service and the Security Service of Ukraine.
