Rescuers urged drivers and pedestrians to be careful and, if possible, stay home over the weekend, and especially not plan long trips.
Forecasters predict a significant complication of weather conditions for November 26-27 in almost the entire territory of Ukraine, except for the western regions. In this regard, the rescuers asked the Ukrainians to stay at home for the weekend if possible, reports the press service of the State Emergency Service.
Blizzards and snow are expected, with occasional rain and showers. Rain can cause snowdrifts and icy roads.
“We encourage drivers and pedestrians to take care and, if possible, stay at home at the weekend, and especially not plan long trips and, if necessary, use public transport instead of their own cars , so as not to create traffic jams on the roads,” said the State Emergency Service.
“If it is impossible to postpone your trip, strictly follow traffic rules. Drivers should be especially careful and slow down near intersections and pedestrian crossings, maintain a safe speed and distance. The Pedestrians must cross the road only in designated areas, wear reflective flashing on their clothes and shoes, which do not slip,” rescuers advised.
The State Emergency Service also reminded drivers of the need to replace summer tires with winter tires.
In Kiev, heavy snowfalls, blizzards and icy conditions are forecast for Sunday and Monday, November 26-27, so the entry of large vehicles into the city on Monday, November 27, will be limited.
It was previously reported that bad weather had left part of the Lviv region without electricity. Due to bad weather conditions in the region, 74 settlements were cut off: 26 completely, 48 partially.
