As a result, the Scandinavian country will achieve the NATO target of spending 2% of GDP on defense and security.
In Denmark, the government and parliament agreed on a significant increase in military aid to Ukraine. This was announced by the Danish Ministry of Defense on Friday, November 24.
It is indicated that this year an additional 2.3 billion Danish kroner ($337 million) will be allocated for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and another 23.5 billion Danish kroner (over $3.4 billion) in 2025-2027.
“We don’t know how long the war in Ukraine will last, but we know that donations are needed to continue its fight against Russia. Throughout the war, Denmark has been a strong supporter of Ukraine and now we are increasing our support.. We are sending a clear message that Ukrainians can count on Danish support for a long time,” said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
In total, Denmark has reserved 60.4 billion Danish kroner (about $8.9 billion) under the Ukraine Military Support Fund for 2023-2028.
As a result, the Scandinavian country will achieve the NATO target of spending 2% of GDP on defense and security.
We remind you that at the end of October Denmark transferred the 13th military aid package to Ukraine worth $520 million. We are talking about equipment and ammunition.
