“Ukraine’s need to receive support for the purpose of its own protection will not stop,” Trudeau emphasized at a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.
Canada will supply 11,000 assault rifles and more than nine million rounds of ammunition made by Colt Canada in Ontario to the Ukrainian military.
In addition, politicians discussed tightening sanctions against Russia.
It was previously reported that Canada will allocate approximately one billion dollars in military aid to Ukraine. The planned funds will be accumulated until 2026. In the period from 2023 to 2024, Ukraine will receive 816 million Canadian dollars from Canada.
