The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said he was “optimistic about further steps by the EU” in support of Ukraine. He said this at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in Canada.
Michel also noted that the EU is ready to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation and support Ukraine in various areas and recalled that the EU has already allocated aid to Ukraine totaling EUR83 billion in various other place. “We support Ukraine, and we will support it as long as necessary,” promised the head of the European Council.
Earlier, Michel noted the progress of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. The politician did not agree with theses that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly “did not achieve its goal.”
