In the past 24 hours, seven power units underwent emergency repair. The State Energy Regulatory Authority will determine the reasons.
In Ukraine, inspections of thermal power plants (TPP) have begun due to emergency repairs to their power units. The Ministry of Energy announced this on Thursday, November 23.
“The Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko ordered the State Inspectorate of Energy Supervision of Ukraine (Gosenergonadzor, – edit.) conduct an immediate review of the condition of the thermal generation power units, which yesterday were urgently and unscheduledly put in for emergency repairs,” the statement said.
According to the department, in the past 24 hours, seven thermal generation power units have gone into emergency repairs. Therefore, during the peak time of consumption at night, a temporary shortfall in electricity (less than 1% of the daily amount of consumption) appears in the energy system. It was covered by emergency assistance from operators in Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
“The reasons for the repair of the units and, accordingly, their usefulness should be clarified by Gosenergonadzor specialists during the inspection. The results will be reported afterwards,” added the Ministry of Energy.
It was previously known that four power units of thermal power plants were connected in Ukraine. More than 700 MW capacity has been added to the grid.
