First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine Aleksey Beloshitsky announced this today, November 19, on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Accident Victims, on his Facebook page.
Some of these accidents were also affected by the consequences of full-scale aggression, Beloshitsky emphasized. “Of course, the last two years have set us back in our step towards “Vision Zero” (zero road deaths), however, great attention is paid to measures to control and organize traffic even in such conditions.
Beloshitsky noted that the main causes of road accidents are:
- non-compliance with traffic rules;
- failure to maintain a safe speed;
- failure to maintain a safe distance and maneuvering rules;
- driving drunk or tired;
- failure to comply with traffic regulations regarding seat belts;
- lack of reflective elements on pedestrians’ clothing.
