The Jerusalem Post reported this today, November 19.
The ship left a Turkish port and was heading to India under the flag of the Bahamas. On board were 25 crew members of different nationalities, including Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Filipinos and Mexicans.
Galaxy Leader was leased by a Japanese company partly owned by Israeli businessman Rami Anger. The Houthis had previously spread reports that the group would target all ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or flying the Israeli flag. Thus, they demand to “stop the aggression against Gaza.”
At the same time, the Israeli authorities claim that the ship was not Israeli and did not belong to an Israeli. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the seizure of the Galaxy Leader by Iran-linked Houthis was another act of Iranian terrorism.
