Airplanes alone will not help liberate the territories; long-range ammunition is needed, says Hanno Pevkur.
For combat operations, the Ukrainian army today, first of all, needs ammunition, in particular, long-range missiles. This was said by Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
He noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now in charge of assessing what weapons the defenders of Ukraine need now, but “in general, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need any weapons.”
“Of course, you need, first of all, ammunition – for long range, ammunition for various types of missile systems, etc. Airplanes are important, but airplanes alone will not change the course of war. In the end, you need an army that controls the territory. And it is liberated, because with airplanes alone you will not take back the territory,” he said.
According to him, only 50 countries agree to provide Ukraine with weapons for the war with Russia, which is about 1 billion people.
“So that’s a seventh or a little more of the world’s population. In essence, 20% of the entire planet is fighting for the values of democratic peace. So, when you put it in perspective, there are still many countries . which does not take sides.” in this battle,” said Pevkur.
The minister of Estonia made it clear that for many countries around the world the war in Ukraine is not the most important topic, but for Estonia this is not the case, because such events will change the security structure of Europe in the coming years. year.
As we have already written, Estonia, Iceland and Germany transferred an additional batch of military aid to Ukraine.
