Another US state recognizes the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians

Markarova invited everyone to join the ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Washington on November 25 at the Memorial to the Victims of the Holodomor.

The state of Iowa (USA) recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Oksana Markarova.

“The State of Iowa issued a proclamation on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor and became the 33rd US state and the eighth state of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago, recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-33 as the genocide of Ukrainian. people and declared November as the month of remembrance of the Ukrainian Holodomor-genocide in Ukraine,” he said.

Markarova expressed gratitude to Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds for his solidarity with Ukraine. He also thanked the Consul General of Ukraine in Chicago Sergei Koledov and the Ukrainian community for their active work in honoring the memory of the Holodomor victims.

The Ambassador invited everyone to join the ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Washington on November 25 at 16:30 near the Memorial to the Victims of the Holodomor.

It was previously reported that the US state of Wyoming recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

The American states of Washington, Maryland and Arizona also recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people and declared November as the month of remembrance of this tragedy.
