The third and fourth entrances of a five-story building fell. There may be people under the rubble.
The building has four entrances and 80 apartments. More than 200 people lived there. Evacuation is underway, emergency services told RosSMI. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 213 people were evacuated, including 37 children. The Mash channel, close to the Muscovite security forces, claims that people evacuated before the collapse.
The preliminary cause of the collapse is the erosion of the foundation by sewage, write Mash and Podem. Local residents told the telegram channel that today a battery burst in one of the apartments.
Before the collapse, information was received about the appearance of cracks in the building. The authorities of the Astrakhan region have ruled out the possibility of a gas explosion, said the region’s vice-governor Oleg Knyazev.
