Sanctions include real estate in Prague and Karlovy Vary, which Russians rent.
The Czech authorities have frozen Russian state assets located on the territory of this country, which are not yet subject to sanctions. Novinky reported this on Wednesday, November 15.
“With my proposal, the government today approved the freezing of Russian state assets in the Czech Republic. This puts an end to the commercial activity by which Russia financed the murders of Ukrainians,” said Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipovsky .
It was mentioned that at the press conference the minister explained that we are talking about the assets of the “Enterprise for Asset Management Abroad” belonging to the administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
“The company is a legal entity that finances the Russian regime, which is killing civilians in Ukraine,” Lipovsky said at a press conference.
According to him, the sanctions included real estate mainly in Prague and Karlovy Vary. These properties will be blocked from being sold. Those who rent these buildings from the Russians can continue to live there, but now they must pay rent into a special account, subject to sanctions restrictions and inaccessible to Russians.
Lipovsky called on other European countries to do the same with Russian assets that still remain on their territory.
It was previously reported that almost 400 criminal cases were opened in the Czech Republic against supporters of the Russian Federation.
Let’s remember that in the new defense strategy, the Czech Republic intends to recognize the Russian Federation as “the most serious threat to the country,” which will allow the country’s authorities to strengthen the defense sector.
