The State Duma of the Russian Federation asked Roskomnadzor to officially declare that the rainbow is not associated with LGBT people, because the number of cases in which citizens have complained to law enforcement agencies about LGBT propaganda due to image of a rainbow rises. This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS.
“Economic entities, public organizations, and cultural organizations are afraid to use the image of the rainbow, because the rainbow flag is also used as a symbol of the LGBT community,” explained State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladislav Davankov.
It is reported that earlier Roskomnadzor, by its order, approved criteria for assessing information promoting “non-traditional sexual relations,” but they did not contain provisions that clearly indicated the possibility of bringing of administrative or criminal liability for using the image of a rainbow as a symbol of LGBT.
We remind you that the Russian government has included information that “promotes non-traditional sexual relations and (or) advantages, pedophilia, gender reassignment” in the list of content prohibited on the Russian Internet.
