During the occupation, two of these children studied online at a Ukrainian school for the entire last school year, while Russian raids constantly took place in the villages. During such activities, the mother of young Ukrainians looked out the window and made sure that Russian soldiers did not break into the house.
In the end, the Russian military began to threaten the parents that they would take their children, take away their house, and deport them. Therefore, the family was forced to send their children to a Russian school,” Kuleba wrote in a telegram.
According to him, at school Ukrainian children “were required to wrap themselves in the Russian flag and wear it until the end of classes.”
When some children got tired and asked to take it off, the teacher agreed. However, a moment later, an armed Russian military man scolded the children for “not loving Russia.”
In school corridors, children constantly saw soldiers with weapons standing under classrooms and taking away 10-year-old Ukrainians for “educational conversations” for carelessly saying “please” in class. Fortunately, the children only had time to go to Russian school for four days before our rescuers took the family away from there.”
According to Kuleba, the families have already crossed the Ukrainian border and are safe.
Save Ukraine notes that the team managed to return a total of 204 children from Russia and the occupied territories.
