Police, circus workers, carabinieri, traffic inspectors and veterinarians searched for the animal in the city streets for almost six hours.
In the city of Ladispol in Italy, near Rome, a lion escaped from the circus and walked around the city for several hours. Corriere della sera reported this on Saturday, November 11, citing Mayor Alessandro Grando.
It is learned that circus workers, along with law enforcement officers, conducted an operation to capture the animal.
At this time, city residents are asked to avoid moving around the city.
According to the publication, they spent almost six hours looking for the lion in the streets of the city. In addition to police and circus workers, the search included carabinieri, traffic inspectors and three veterinarians with guns loaded with tranquilizer cartridges. A helicopter is also included.
“I hope that this case will awaken the conscience of some people and that we can finally put an end to the exploitation of animals in circuses,” wrote Mayor Ladispoli.
After several hours of searching, the lion was found and euthanized, then returned to the circus.
It was previously reported that a sheep was rescued in Scotland after living under a rock for two years.
