It is impossible to get written confirmation anywhere, but cyclists are turned away. We called the Finnish border guards and they confirmed it. “I personally was turned away today,” one of the interlocutors of the Fontanka publication said.
“Current Time” also writes that the border guard duty officer at the Vaalimaa checkpoint said: all checkpoints in south-eastern Finland have been closed to bicycles from Russia entering the country since November 9.
The interlocutors did not answer what the ban is related to and which checkpoints it applies to.
Fontanka, citing eyewitnesses, writes that Russians were no longer allowed on bicycles because of the Imatra, Nujamaa and Vaalimaa checkpoints.

Fontanka noted that there is no information about the new ban on the website of the Finnish Border Service. The newspaper suggests that bicycles could be banned along with cars with Russian license plates, for which Finnish authorities closed entry in mid-September.
In early September, the European Commission issued a clarification on how EU member states should apply the ban on the import of a large list of goods from Russia, including cars. After this, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Finland and Norway banned cars with Russian license plates from entering the territory.
