The military is now finding out what type of missile it was – the ballistic Iskander-M or the guided anti-aircraft S-400. The commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Nikolai Oleshchuk, reported this on Telegram.
In the meantime, I would like to thank the combat crews of the Patriot air defense system for the instant reaction in defending the capital and everyone who repelled the Shahed attack on the night of November 11, 2023 in the areas of responsibility of the East, South and Center air commands, – he noted.
And the speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, also explained why the air raid alert was announced after the explosions. According to him, ballistic missiles fly very quickly and they are not as visible to radar as cruise missiles. Russia is armed with the S-300, S-400, Iskander-M and Kinzhal ballistic missiles.
Let us remind you that on the morning of November 11, powerful explosions thundered in Kyiv and only after them an air raid alert was announced. Before this, the pause between missile attacks on the capital lasted 52 days. In the Kyiv region, a blast wave damaged the windows and roofs of five private residential buildings. Minor damage to utility premises and one of the private enterprises was also recorded.
